Jeffrey Rich, Tenor
Jeffrey began his musical career in Durham, N.C. as a solosit with the Duke
University Colleguim under the direction of Jan Hurlinger in 1981. He sang
with the group for ten years under the directorship of Margaret Johnston and
John Taylor and later with Robert Hill performing works by Schein, Scheidt,
Schuetz, Monteverdi, Bach, and others.
His solo appearances include faculty concerts at the
Baroque Performance Institute in Oberlin, Ohio, in works by Henry Purcell,
Bach, and Luois-Nicolas Clerambault. Most recently he was principal tenor
soloist in the Institute's faculty production of Claudio Monteverdi's Vespers
of 1610. In November of 1998 he appeared with Apollo's Fire and the Cleveland
Baroque Orchestra in their production and recording of the Vespers.
Other solo appearances include productions with the Durham Civic Choral
Society under the direction of Rodney Wynkoop in works by Karl Orff and
Maurice Charpentier.
Jeffrey has studied voice with Paul Rowe and Penelope Jensen, and is currently
studying with Mollie Rich at Stetson University.
